Our teachers receive annual training to enhance their knowledge and skills in areas such as curriculum planning, positive child guidance, and health and safety.   • Kristy Kushmaul

    School Principal

    Hi! My name is Kristy Kushmaul and I am the School Principal for Ready Set Grow. As School Principal , I have responsibility for enrollment, marketing, staff acquisition, and licensing compliance. You can find me in the main building in the second office on the left.

    I joined the RSG team in December 2016 to lend my education and experience to this amazing program. I graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Science, and Indiana Wesleyan University with an M.S. in Business Administration.

    I have worked as a teacher in all age groups and as an administrator for over 13 years. My passion has always been in providing the very best administrative and business processes to better serve children and families.

    During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband Tyler and our daughter, Carsyn as well as our family and friends, watching OSU football, and reading a good book. We have two precious furry children, Apollo, the Siberian Husky, and Carmen, the Chocolate Lab.

  • Maggie Spangler

    Manager of Education Services

    Hi! My name is Maggie Spangler and I am the Manager of Education Services for Ready Set Grow. As Manager of Education Services , I have responsibility for the educational program and staff development for our infant, toddler, and preschool age groups. You can find me in the main building in the office with the big picture window.

    I was excited to join RSG in June 2015 and be a part of fulfilling our vision of a “nurturing childhood haven” for all our children. I graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Education and Ashland University with an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education.

    I have worked as a preschool teacher, trainer, educational consultant and administrator for over 30 years. My passion has always been in providing the very best early learning for young children and support for their teachers.

    During my free time I do a lot of reading, study karate and Kobudo, and work with my husband on projects in my house and yard. My growing family includes seven adult children and two grandsons.

  • Tiffany Sampsel

    Assistant School Principal

    Hi! My name is Tiffany Sampsel and I am the Assistant School Principal for Ready Set Grow. My responsibilities include opening our buildings each day, being available to help families and staff in the morning, maintaining children’s files, and providing oversight to our food service. You can find me in the main office just inside the doors in the main building.

    I joined RSG in July 2015, first providing assistance during the administrative transition, and later assuming the role of Assistant School Principal . I graduated from Waynesburg University with a B.S. in Elementary and Special Education, and have over 10 years of management experience.

    I joined the RSG team to bring my business expertise to the financial and administrative operation while also engaging my interest in child development and education. I enjoy the challenges of business and the opportunity to solve problems, as well as building relationships with the children.

  • Jane Shumaker

    Kindergarten Teacher

    I have been a teacher for over 19 years and, before coming to Ready Set Grow, taught 6th grade for 13 years. Because of my own special memories of holidays with a large extended family, I enjoy decorating my classroom for the children and they get very excited for each special day. I also enjoy reading aloud every day, nurturing language development, and encouraging children to read on their own. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, bike riding, and going to the movies with my son, Brock.

  • Tess Thompson

    Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

    I have degrees in Anthropology and French from DePauw University. I enjoy working with preschool children because of their creativity and their excitement to learn new things. There’s nothing like that “A-Ha” moment when a child discovers something for the first time. In my free time, I enjoy visiting my family, reading, hiking and camping, and sewing.

  • Lorena Talbert

    Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

    I’ve been working with young children for 12 years, most recently with preschoolers with special needs. I enjoy being with children as they learn and grow, and, especially, as they just enjoy life! In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my four-year-old twin nieces, going to Disney World, and traveling to new places.

    Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

    I enjoy working with children because they keep me on my toes with their honesty and curiosity about the world we live in. As a military kid and the mom in my own military family, I have visited at least 12 countries and been lucky enough to live in England and Germany. I’ve been to the White House, the Vice President’s House, and Camp David! Not surprisingly, I enjoy traveling with my family: husband, Dave, and children Gabby, Ryan and Emmett.

    I have a Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology, Human Development and Family Science from The Ohio State University and have over 20 years of experience working with children. I enjoy fostering children’s independence and trusting their capabilities to learn and grow. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters, gardening, cooking and reading.

  • Toi Neaton

    Preschool Teacher

    I enjoy reading stories and singing songs in large group with the preschoolers in my classroom. I have a Bachelor of Arts in English, a great love of reading (in English and in French) and can sing in four different languages. In my free time, I also like cooking, crafting, watching movies and doing jigsaw puzzles.

    Young children are so happy and it’s fun to watch their faces light up about the silliest things! I enjoy spending time with my own grandchildren, Ethan and Kylie, and my adult children, Brandon and Kayla. I also like to scrapbook and travel.

    My favorite childhood memory was going fishing with my grandpa: we always named the fish, then he took them off the line and we threw them back. I had a Barbie fishing pole and always caught the most fish! I’m studying graphic design at Columbus State Community College and in my free time I enjoy making art, crafting, travelling and spending time with my family.

  • Amanda Shock

    Early Preschool Teacher

    I’ve been working with children for over 10 years and completed college courses in early childhood education. I’m also certified in dental assisting and radiology. My favorite thing about young children is their laughter! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Matt, cooking, writing music and playing the guitar.

    My interest in children began by babysitting for my family and friends. One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my sweet little niece, Lydia, and all my family. I have had a love for singing since I was a little girl and when I’m not working I enjoy singing and playing the guitar. I also get to hang out with my dogs, Lacey and Chip.

    My favorite childhood memory is my mom reading chapter books to me at bedtime. Now, I enjoy reading with the children in my classroom and watching them discover things for the first time. After working at Ready Set Grow for more than 13 years, the children in my first class are now in high school and I still keep in touch with many of them.

    In my short time working with young children, I greatly enjoy developing relationships with them and watching them grow. I am currently pursuing a Child Development Associate credential with my ultimate goal to attain an advanced degree in early childhood education. In my free time, I enjoy shopping and adding to my mug collection.

    I have worked with children for over 11 years and really enjoy developing creative activity ideas for the classroom. My favorite childhood memory is riding my bike and pretending to be a dragon. Now, I enjoy making stories come alive for the children and enhancing their dramatic play. In my free time, I enjoy playing RPG games.

    I have enjoyed over 15 years working with children as they learn and grow – I love to see them smile! I also have education and experience in the areas of medical assisting and surgical technology. In my free time, I enjoy craft shows, scrapbooking, baking and hiking. I also enjoy snorkeling with manatees and diving with sharks!

    Before joining the Ready Set Grow team, I worked with adults with developmental disabilities. I enjoy watching children learn new things and develop their own personalities. In my free time, I like to catch up on family time with my fiancé, Ron, our daughter, Annaleigha, and our dog, Sissy.

I started dancing at five years old and continued until I was a young adult. Now, I enjoy singing and moving with the toddlers! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Joseph, and our daughter, Jessa.

My favorite childhood memory is going to the beach at night with my family, counting and naming the stars. In my free time, I still enjoy spending time with my family, especially my husband and two children.

    After completing classes in medical assisting, I chose to work with young children because I enjoy watching them grow and seeing the smiles on their faces each day. When I’m not working at RSG, I enjoy camping, fishing and shopping. I dream of visiting another country one day.

    Infant Teacher

    Originally from the Philippines, I played outdoors a lot with my siblings and cousins: sliding down hills on palm leaves, making rafts from banana trees, catching fish and swimming. I have a Bachelor of Elementary Education from Cebu Normal University and over five years of experience working with children. I enjoy singing with the infants and making silly faces with them which results in priceless smiles!

    My interest in young children began when my family child care provider allowed me to help take care of the infants when I was a preschooler. I have continued to enjoy nurturing children, watching them develop physically and mentally. I have a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from OSU and I have interests in medical science and psychology. In my free time, I enjoy being outside, hiking, spending time with my family, and making jewelry.

    I’m currently I student at Columbus State Community College studying business management. In my 11 years working in child care, I have enjoyed watching so many children learn and grow. In my free time, I enjoy playing with my daughter, Noelle and my son, Tycen, reading and listening to music, and spending time with my boyfriend, John. We will welcome our son, Tycen, in November!

    I live with my husband, Josh, our dogs, Tibby, Lika, and Oliver, and our cats, Simba and Luna. I enjoy reading and visiting with friends and family. I’m so glad to begin working with young children because they are so interesting and never leave you bored!

    I enjoy working with infants because there is so much growth during the first year and seeing them do things on their own for the first time is a real blessing. I have an Associate of Arts from Columbus State Community College and am classically trained in flute performance. I also work as a cosmetologist. In my free time, I enjoy painting, drawing and making things for others.

     I’ve been working with young children for over two years and enjoy watching them discover the world. I’ve been riding horses since I was three years old and treasure my early childhood memory of riding my pony, Bart. In my free time, I still ride horses as well as hike, hunt, fish, and run.

    I’ve been working with children for over six years and enjoy watching them grow and accomplish their goals. At Ready Set Grow, I have the pleasure of working with a variety of age groups and knowing all the children. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Melissa, and our daughter, Zoe, especially playing video games and board games.

    I’ve been married 39 years to my high school sweetheart, Dave: we have two sons, one daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. For 35 of those years, I’ve been working with children as both a teacher and an administrator in child care and early learning programs. There’s nothing better than the smile children bring to every day! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, baking for others, and crafting.

    I’m currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and plan to attend graduate school to earn a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have been working with young children for five years; their curiosity inspires me to look at the world differently and be brave enough to ask questions. In my free time, I’m planning my wedding to my high school sweetheart!
